Plains Indians

Flashback History

The many tribes spanning the Great Plains region of the United States--known as the Plains Indians--survived predominantly because of the American Bison. A buffalo was a source of food, hides for clothing, and bones for cups, decorations, crafting tools, and knives. While the Plains Indians no longer roam the plains due to Westward expansion, much can be learned from reading about their culture of living off the land and not wasting natural resources.
