Meet Patricia MacLachlan

About the Author

Patricia MacLachlan did not start her career as a writer until she was 41. As a child she thought she would never become a writer because she felt she did not have any of life's answers. Soon after writing her first book, The Sick Day, Patricia MacLachlan started winning awards. In 1986, she won the most prestigious writer's award, the Newbery Medal, for her touching story Sarah, Plain and Tall. In this biography, kids will find out about Patricia MacLachlan's life and what eventually convinced her to become a writer.
