Alexander Hamilton

The Library of American Lives and Times

One of the nation's founding fathers, Hamilton served as the first secretary of the treasury, was a military hero during the American Revolution, and helped author the renowned Federalist Papers. Hamilton argued for a strong national government, and was a passionate advocate for many of the customs and institutions that are still with us today.
